If you are planning to visit Buddhist pilgrimage then Dhauli Shanti Stupa is one of the most beautiful Buddhist temple in India and it is one of the biggest Buddhist temple in Eastern Indian sites. As history says it is a Blood war which is fought between Maurya Emperor Ashoka and Kalinga Emperor Anantha Padmanabha in which around 2,00,000 warriors died due to cruelness of Emperor Ashoka. The Daya River is flowing next to the battlefield turned completely Red because of the bloodshed for 7 Days.
Then King Ashoka was filled with sheer grief and therefore he decided to renounce the war completely for the rest of his life. Then king Ashoka resorted to Buddhism at Dhauli and presented his sword to Lord Buddha. The Stupa is built by Kalinga Nippon Buddha stupa in collaboration with Japan Sangha in the year of 1970.

Dhauli Light and Sound show:-
As a popular Historic place, people from all around the world come to this place to see the hill and to know the history of this Shanti Stupa so Dhauli Development Committee started a new program which is called Dhauli Light and Sound show. On this show, you can know the history of Dhauli Shanti Stupa and the history of Emperor Ashoka, history of Maurya Empire, how Chandashoka converted to Dharmashoka.
This Light and Sound show start every day at 7 PM to 7.35 PM and 2nd show starts on 7.45 PM to 8.20 PM. This is a show of 35-minute duration. This is an open show.
Ticket Price – 25 rupees.
The Light and Sound show will be closed on every Monday.
